Final Illustrations

dragon series

Role: Design Lead and Art Direction

Collaborator: Sean Christopher - Professor at Cal Poly Pomona

Objective: To use animal familiar as a vehicle to illustrate self-identity. Consequently, to use the same animal familiar to illustrate one of the seven capital vices and seven capital virtues as part of the identity

Materials: Selected gold dragon as the animal familiar as it is my Chinese zodiac animal. Chose “gluttony” (middle illustration above) for capital vice and “patience” (right illustration above) for capital virtue that I identify with

Outcome: Successfully portrayed self-identity and culture using non-literal means

Tools used: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

The gold color was used for the dragon because of my birth year. The other colors were selected as they complement the gold color of the dragon.
